GLOBIS University responds upon being informed of COVID-19 (coronavirus) infection by student

Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University (Tokyo, President Yoshito Hori) would like to announce that today (February 26) a student taking a class at the Tokyo Campus informed us that he/she, tested positive with symptoms of COVID-19 (coronavirus). After attending a class on February 15, the student started experiencing a fever of over 37.5℃, over a period of 4 days, upon which he/she was hospitalized (February 20). At this time, necessary tests were performed and it was confirmed that he/she had tested positive for COVID-19.

The Governing Public Health Centre has confirmed that he/she did not have close contact with other students and faculty in the class, based on the duration of the class (3 hours of class time including 1 hour of group work) and that he/she was wearing a mask at all times. Also, 10 days have passed since the class in which he/she participated (February 15), and the The Governing Public Health Centre has confirmed that the school premises are safe for use.

GLOBIS University has taken thorough measures to sanitize the entire school premises (classrooms, toilet, elevator, stairs) upon being informed by the student about his/her condition today (February 26). 

In addition to the above measures, we are requesting that any student who has visited China (including Macau and Hong Kong), South Korea and Iran within the last two weeks and/or has experienced symptoms of cold or fever of more than 37.5℃ for 4 consecutive days (2 days in case of chronic condition) to refrain from taking on-campus classes at GLOBIS or attending GLOBIS for any other reason.

Going forward, GLOBIS will continue to prioritize implementing prevention measures against COVID-19 as well as ensuring the safety of our students, faculty and staff in accordance with the policies and action plan introduced by the national and local governments.
