GLOBIS Venture Challenge awards 20 million yen in prizes

On Sunday, we held the sixth (and biggest yet) GLOBIS Venture Challenge at our Tokyo campus.

Seven out of 39 teams, composed of GLOBIS MBA alumni, made it to the final round to pitch their business plans for the chance to take home the grand prize of 10 million yen.

One of the winning teams included grads from the English MBA, who were brought together by their mutual love of skiing. Their pitch (presented in full skiing attire) was for an app that pairs skiers with slopes that match their preferred conditions.

The other victorious team proposed an application that creates joint budget plans for working couples, and also makes personalized suggestions on how to save money based on previous data.

Both teams gave emotional speeches, grateful for the dedication of their team members and all that they learned from their time at GLOBIS.

The GVC is one of many ways in which GLOBIS is creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem for current and past students. We offer entrepreneur-focused courses and many of our lecturers have successfully started their own businesses. After all, GLOBIS began as a start-up venture!
