Join us on Friday, November 6th, for a public seminar by Mr. Robin Takashi Lewis, the Co-founder of mymizu, an initiative to raise awareness in reducing single-use plastics.
Mr. Robin Takashi Lewis will share experiences and lessons learned from 10 years of passionately working in the field of sustainable development while exploring trends and opportunities in the field of social impact. This discussion will explore issues around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as environment, plastic consumption, social business, international development, and what we can do to make an impact from as early as today.
Core topics covered will include:
- The journey to a career in social impact and the answer to "how did I find my kokorozashi?" (personal mission)
- Business: from shareholder primacy to a powerful force for social good
- Establishing Social Innovation Japan and mymizu
- Current and future trends in the field of social entrepreneurship, including other business models/case studies in Japan

Representative Director, Social Innovation Japan Education
M.A. in International Business, University of Edinburgh, UK Robin is the Co-founder of mymizu - an award-winning initiative to reduce consumption of single-use plastics. He is also the Co-founder & Director of Social Innovation Japan - a platform for social good focusing on the UN Sustainable Development Goals - and is a Consultant at the World Bank (Climate Change Group). He has 10 years’ experience working with inter-governmental organisations, social enterprises and NGOs, and has managed humanitarian operations in countries such as Haiti, Nepal, Vanuatu and Mozambique. In 2017, he took on a sponsored expedition, walking 600+km along Japan’s disaster-affected coastline to document the recovery from the 2011 Fukushima nuclear crisis. Robin is a Board Member of the Shibuya QWS Innovation Council, a TEDx Speaker, and graduated with an M.A. in International Business from the University of Edinburgh, UK.

BA in Economics, Hitotsubashi University Mr. Yamanaka is a full-time faculty at GLOBIS, and now leading the CRE (Creativity and Entrepreneurship) Faculty Group. Prior to GLOBIS, Mr.Yamanaka ventured to various fields and sectors, landing him an immeasurable amount of experiences and positions; such as serving as the COO at Health Solution, Inc., led the business development of SMS Co., Ltd. (Publicly listed since 2008), and also as one of the founding members of Healthcare Venture Forum - a nonprofit organization that explores digital healthcare and medical devices. Read more
