Biography

Alex Wang currently serves as the managing partner of China Impact Ventures (CIV), an impact investment company focusing on supporting China-based early-stage startups in cleantech, mobility, and smart agriculture. CIV also incubates enterprises that leverage China’s strong supply chain capabilities and innovative products to serve developing markets, including Africa, India, and Southeast Asia.

Prior to his current role, Alex was the general manager of edX China, the massive online open course platform founded by MIT and Harvard. He also founded and cofounded two internet startups and grew the businesses in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific with numerous Global 2000 clients and tens of millions of users.

In addition, Alex has held various sales, marketing, consulting, and engineering positions at Lucent Technologies, the Boston Consulting Group, and the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.

He received a BS in applied mechanics from Fudan University, a PhD in engineering mechanics from Virginia Tech, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Alex specializes in cross-border entrepreneurship and innovation, global market expansion strategy, and impact investment. At GLOBIS University, he teaches Technovate courses, including Entrepreneurship Without Borders.
