Loren Fykes is an entrepreneur, internet/media strategic partnership and business development professional, DEIB practitioner and nonprofit founder based in Tokyo. He consults on complex global projects in the fields of innovation and organizational transformation with a solid track record in program management of large, complex projects in the APAC region, such as Trust & Safety for Google and now DEIB. His passion for developing new frameworks and methods pushed him to build the most successful platform in Japan for LGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs and professionals.
As a gay African American cisgender male fluent in written and spoken Japanese, Loren realized that diversity and intersectionality were a source of strength and innovation, qualities that bring people together and bridge disparate perspectives and attitudes. His social venture, Fruits in Suits Japan, was started to support those who neither have 1) the tools to “play the game” successfully, nor 2) equal access to the best resources/information/financing. Currently with over 2,000 members, he mentors new entrepreneurs and consults for several multinational companies on supplier diversity and social impact which has led to the launch of the country's first LGBTQ+ chamber of commerce, the Pride Business Alliance, an official international affiliate of the NGLCC in Washington DC.
Loren welcomes the opportunity to meet new people and learn about their ambitions and passion. He regularly collaborates with local founders in events such as Samurai Venture Summit, Social Innovation Japan, and Youth Venture Summit Korea. Loren has amassed fifteen years of experience as an investment banker and business development executive for companies such as JP Morgan Chase (formerly Jardine Fleming), MTV Networks, and Turner International, a division of Time Warner. In his free time he enjoys hiking, cooking for friends and a really nice glass of red wine.
