GLOBIS Venture Challenge

G-CHALLENGE 2024

What is G-CHALLENGE?

The GLOBIS Venture Challenge (G-CHALLENGE) is a business plan contest open only to current students and graduates of the Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University.

The purpose of the G-CHALLENGE is to encourage the creation of new business for aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to take on the challenge and established business owners who are seeking to grow their business by providing the following opportunities:

  • Real-world opportunity to help students build a reliable team to develop a business
  • The chance to receive mentoring from teammates and experienced judges
  • Opportunities to gain numerous supporters for the business
  • Receive funding for the business plan submitted

To apply, applicants need to submit a business plan alongside other required information during the entry period. If the applicant is selected as a finalist, they will pitch their business plan before a panel of judges at the G-CHALLENGE Final. The winning team(s) will be awarded the opportunity to receive mentoring and an investment of up to 10 million yen by GLOBIS University.

Establishment of the new KIBOW Award

We are excited to introduce the “KIBOW Award” as part of the G-CHALLENGE starting in 2023, aimed at nurturing impactful startups and supporting visionary leaders driven by a strong passion to create positive change. We welcome those dedicated to solving social issues, while also considering scalability and economics to apply for the “KIBOW Award.”

The world grapples with a wide range of social issues. Japan for example, faces challenges such as the loneliness and isolation experienced by elderly citizens, educational disparities among children, the challenges of balancing work and child-care for working parents, and dwindling populations in disaster-affected areas.

Addressing these diverse social issues and making a lasting impact (on society or the environment) should not be the responsibility of government agencies and non-profit organizations alone. We recognize the potential of corporate and startup initiatives in this domain and refer to investing with this kind of impact as the primary goal as “Social Impact Investment.”

Pioneering this approach in Japan is the KIBOW Social Impact Investment Fund, which is financed and partially managed by GLOBIS. This fund invests in startups that bring about significant changes and inspire hope within communities, in line with its name “KIBOW,” derived from the Japanese word for “hope.” The newly launched KIBOW Award shares its name and vision with this existing Social Impact Investment Fund.
