Chulalongkorn Business School in Thailand Welcomes GLOBIS Students After 3-Year Hiatus Due to COVID-19

GLOBIS University, in collaboration with its partner Chulalongkorn Business School (CBS) in Thailand, recently concluded the “CBS Visit Program” with 36 GLOBIS students and alumni and 25 CBS students. After being suspended for three years, the program successfully took place from May 1st to May 3rd, 2023.

 

Highlights of the Program

The “CBS Visit Program” had a theme and goal of “Social Innovation in Thailand.” During the program, participants gained insights into social innovation in Thailand through interactive lectures and field visits. The program had several highlights, including:

  • A 3-hour session with a young social entrepreneur to create a game that could be used for the rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
  • The first overseas event, the Globis MBA Gathering in Bangkok, laid the foundation for creating a strong GLOBIS network.
  • Learning about the Thai healthcare system and traditional medicine from a doctor at Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital.

 

Program Schedule

The “CBS Visit Program” was structured as follows:

Day 1

Workshop/Lectures and GLOBIS MBA Gathering

  • Workshop: “Innovation for Social Inclusion” by Mr. Chatchai Aphibanpoonpon, Founder of Klong Dinsor.
  • Lecture: “Household Debt in Thailand” by Dr. Sommarat Chantarat, Director of Research, PIER.
  • GLOBIS MBA gathering with 69 participants.
Day 2

Field Trip

  • Visit to Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital.
  • Learning about Thai healthcare system and traditional medicine.
  • Exploring a 140-year-old building next to the hospital.
Day 3

Day 3: Lectures and Program Recap

  • Lecture: “The Thai Economy and Sustainability” by Prof. Kanis and Dr. Parichar Munsgool, Head of Legal and Sustainability, Carabao Group Public Company Limited.
  • Lecture: “Family Business in Thailand” by Prof. Krislert Samphantharak, PhD, Professor at School of Global Policy and Strategy, UC San Diego.
Final Thoughts

Overall, the “CBS Visit Program” was a success, providing participants with valuable insights and knowledge about social innovation in Thailand, and laying the foundation for a stronger Globis network.
