Why did you decide to do an MBA at GLOBIS?

Michelle sittingGLOBIS is the only university that stopped me in my tracks to think about my "kokorozashi" that no other universities did. Having a personal mission is akin to having a life compass to guide you in times of trial and hardship. It is good to have checkpoints in life that make us question what we want.
Being situated in Tokyo attracted me too!

How is your typical day at GLOBIS?

Full day of classes! But not every day. It is challenging, and it never lets you take a “back seat” when education is concerned. My day challenges me to do more than what is possible for one person, but I have the opportunity to leverage my classmates' experiences, which in turn opens my eyes to many other industries and countries. It is like fast track for me to learn a lot with just one year of investment. I won't lie, it is really challenging, but you have to keep pushing yourself to overcome your limits to be better.

How has GLOBIS changed the way you think?

I realized that I learnt much more when I shared more. GLOBIS gave me a platform to learn and to see things from different perspectives. Japanese education, the people and the uniqueness which helped make Japan "the safest country" opened my eyes to endless possibilities that other countries could learn and benefit from.

How are you finding life in Japan?

Michelle standingInteresting! I am still intrigued by Japanese people’s discipline, which stemmed from their education and societal upbringing. It is challenging if you cannot speak or read survival Japanese, but you would be amazed by their thoughtfulness put into everything. For example, product packaging is so well-designed, you can really see they thought hard about how their users could most conveniently use something!

What are your career plans? How is GLOBIS helping with them?

Apart from internships and career days, one of the ways GLOBIS helps develop student careers is by opening up an international arena for us, with a large pool of networks from Japan and overseas. If you are planning on getting to know people from all around the world and from many industries then GLOBIS will provide plenty of opportunities.

What advice would you give to students considering studying at GLOBIS?

Do not think too much about what the class can offer you. Do not fret the little things, we have bigger fish to fry. Open your mind to learn and cultivate a brave heart. Learn to make challenges into opportunities and be flexible to challenges.
