What is your professional background?

I’ve been working at a chemical company as an application engineer. I originally majored in molecular biology and had a Master’s degree in Engineering.

What made you decide to do an MBA? Why the GLOBIS MBA?

My long-term goal is to deliver an innovative product that can improve every life in the world by working with people all over the world. My plan to realize my goal is to acquire skills to communicate in English and share knowledge related not only to technical matters but also to business. The inspiration for my vision was formed clearly after visiting the head office of my company in the U.S.

To realize my goal faster, GLOBIS is absolutely ideal for me. The reason is it provides great classes online and in English. I’m taking Critical Thinking as an online course now, and it’s giving me a great opportunity to practice defining, sticking to, and solving issues. And I absolutely believe I can make use of this method for my current job.

What changes have you seen since starting the MBA? (Professional, mindset etc.)?

I feel my thinking processes and mind-set have changed since starting the MBA.  I was not good at controlling my emotions when I faced an unexpected event, but now I try to remember what I learned in human resources classes like Leadership Development, Ethics and Values and Organizational Behavior and Leadership
. Thinking about the gap between my ideal and current situation encourages me to obtain new skills and perspectives.

What has your schedule been like as an Online MBA student? Do you combine work with study?

I usually take one to two hours on weekdays and six to nine hours on weekends.  What I keep in mind is there is no day that I don’t think about case exercises or key takeaways from the classes.

What are your plans after the MBA? Do you intend to stay in the same industry or do a career pivot?

I would like to experience the strategy and marketing side. It is good training for me to think about strategy if I were a business leader, manager, and owner.

What advice would you give to potential prospects who are interested in taking the GLOBIS MBA?

I live in Tokyo, but I selected the online course because it is more flexible. I realized that online communication skills are really important to make our learnings maximized, and it is sometimes tough for me because I cannot see my classmates and talk with them in person. I think both styles have merits and demerits. So, I recommend you think about which you prefer again.
